What is a Projected Capacitive Touch Panel? |
What is a Resistive Touch Panel? |
A capacitive touch panel is one which consists of an insulator such as glass, coated with a transparent conductor such as indium tin oxide (ITO). As the human body is also a conductor, touching the surface of the panel results in a distortion of the panel's electrostatic field, measurable as a change in capacitance. |
Resistive touch panels are composed of two flexible sheets coated with a resistive material and separated by an air gap or microdots. When contact is made to the surface of the touchpanel, the two sheets are pressed together. On these two sheets there are horizontal and vertical lines that when pushed together, register the precise location of the touch. |
